Hans Christian Andersen book Award | Sutcliff Discovery of the Day

Rosemary Sutcliff was the UK children’s author  nominee for The Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1969 and 1974. She was highly commended in 1974. Every two years the International Board on Books for Young People awards the prize  to a living author and to an illustrator whose complete works are judged to have made a lasting contribution to children’s literature. The award is considered the most prestigious in international children’s literature. It was  won this year 2010 by UK nominee David Almond.
