For award-winning, internationally-acclaimed author Rosemary Sutcliff (1920-92). By Anthony Lawton: godson, cousin & literary executor. Rosemary Sutcliff wrote historical fiction, children's literature and books, films, TV & radio, including The Eagle of the Ninth, Sword at Sunset, Song for a Dark Queen, The Mark of the Horse Lord, The Silver Branch, The Lantern Bearers, Dawn Wind, Blue Remembered Hills.
I recently discovered Felix Felton (1911 – 72)who was a British actor, and a radio director and author. In 1961 he adapted Rosemary Sutcliff’sThe Lantern Bearers(published in 1959) for a six-part series for Children’s Hour for BBC Radio. In 1962 he also adapted Dawn Wind(1961) for radio, playing the role of Einon Hen himself.

I remember hearing this dramatisation; and it would be wonderful if it could be repeated; or the novel adapted into a film, for I’m a great fan of “The eagle”.
The novel has produced as an audiobook by Blackstone (ISBN 1470890127)
