For award-winning, internationally-acclaimed author Rosemary Sutcliff (1920-92). By Anthony Lawton: godson, cousin & literary executor. Rosemary Sutcliff wrote historical fiction, children's literature and books, films, TV & radio, including The Eagle of the Ninth, Sword at Sunset, Song for a Dark Queen, The Mark of the Horse Lord, The Silver Branch, The Lantern Bearers, Dawn Wind, Blue Remembered Hills.
I have been researching Rosemary Sutcliff’s ancestors as well as my own, indeed they overlap because Rosemary’s mother was my grandfather’s sister. This is what I think her tree looks like as far as I have got at present.

Interesting, Anthony, thanks – genealogy is very addictive so you may have started something now!
I read somewhere (can’t remember where now) that Rosemary Sutcliff’s mother detested her first name, Nessie, and would only anwser to her second name, Elizabeth. What with the Loch Ness monster associations, one couldn’t really blame her :)
