Have found my copy of “Shadows on the Downs”, Anthony, but my scanner is on blink, so will send via the library next week.
In the meantime, you might be interested in this article written by Judith Plotz “Sutcliff’s ‘The Shining Company’ and the Kipling Tradition.”

Thank you for that very interesting link. I have been a fan of David Jones for 30 years – (about 15 years less than I have been a fan of Rosemary Sutcliff) and never expected to find the two names in the same article!
If no luck let me know, as I can probably find someone else who takes the journal.
It’s not available free online, Anthony – I’ll see if I can hunt out my copy and send it to you privately.
