‘Swords and sandals’ film The Eagle of the Ninth bids for box-office glory

Swords and sandals: A bid for box-office glory is an article in The Independent about forthcoming historical films, including The Eagle of the Ninth. ‘Swords and Sandals’ as a label for a genre of films which I have only recently come across. (Shame they spelled Rosemary’s name wrong. Even bigger shame that they have not corrected it, despite my writing to them!). The article’s author writes:

Film of Rosemary Sutcliff’s The Eagle of the Ninth on Facebook and Yahoo!

Rosemary Sutcliff’s The Eagle of the Ninth is being made into a film starring Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland, Mark Strong, Tahar Rahim. The film is produced by Duncan Kenworthy, directed by Kevin Macdonald, written by Jeremy Brock. Financed by Focus Productions and Channel 4, it is due out in September 2010 in both the USA and UK, and will be distributed in many other countries.
